Step-by-Step Instructions
1. Prepare the Meatballs
- In a mixing bowl, combine the ground meat, breadcrumbs, egg, Parmesan cheese, minced garlic, parsley, salt, and pepper.
- Mix gently until just combined. Overmixing can make the meatballs dense.
- Shape the mixture into small, even-sized balls, about 1 inch in diameter.
2. Cook the Meatballs
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add a splash of olive oil.
- Brown the meatballs on all sides, cooking them for about 8-10 minutes. If necessary, work in batches to avoid overcrowding the pan.
- Once browned, transfer the meatballs to a plate and set aside.
3. Cook the Fettuccine
- While the meatballs cook, bring a large pot of salted water to a boil.
- Cook the fettuccine according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside, reserving 1/2 cup of pasta water.
