How to Make Smoked Sausage Cajun Alfredo
1. Cook the Pasta
- Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add your pasta and cook according to package instructions until al dente.
- Reserve 1 cup of pasta water, then drain and set aside.
2. Cook the Sausage and Aromatics
- In a large skillet or sauté pan, heat olive oil or butter over medium heat.
- Add the sliced smoked sausage and cook until browned on both sides, about 3-4 minutes. Remove and set aside.
- In the same pan, add the chopped onion and garlic. Sauté until softened and fragrant, about 2-3 minutes.
3. Create the Cajun Alfredo Sauce
- Reduce the heat to medium-low. Add the Cajun seasoning to the pan and stir to combine with the onions and garlic.
- Pour in the heavy cream and milk, stirring well to blend. If you prefer a thicker sauce, whisk in the flour.
- Bring the mixture to a gentle simmer, then stir in the Parmesan cheese until fully melted and the sauce becomes creamy.
