Cabbage and Ground Meat

Instructions:

  1. Cook the Ground Meat:
  • In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the ground meat, breaking it up with a spoon as it cooks. Season with salt and pepper, and cook until browned, about 5-7 minutes. Remove from the skillet and set aside.
  1. Sauté the Vegetables:
  • In the same skillet, add chopped onion and cook until softened (about 3-4 minutes). Add minced garlic and cook for an additional minute until fragrant.
  1. Cook the Cabbage:
  • Add the chopped cabbage to the skillet and sauté for 5-7 minutes, stirring occasionally, until it starts to soften.
  1. Add Tomatoes and Seasoning:
  • Stir in the diced tomatoes (with juices), tomato paste, paprika, cumin, thyme, and red pepper flakes (if using). Mix everything well.
  1. Simmer:
  • Return the browned ground meat to the skillet, stir everything together, and let the mixture simmer for about 10-15 minutes. If it looks too dry, you can add a little water or broth to help it cook down. Stir occasionally.
  1. Taste and Adjust:
  • Taste and adjust seasoning with more salt, pepper, or spices if needed.
  1. Serve:
  • Once everything is cooked through and flavors have combined, garnish with fresh parsley and serve hot.

Tips:

  • You can serve this dish as is or over a bed of rice or mashed potatoes.
  • Add a little shredded cheese on top if you like a cheesy twist!
