Cajun Shrimp and Sausage Pasta


Ingredients (Serves 4–6)

For the Pasta:

  • 12 oz (340 g) penne pasta or your choice of pasta
  • Salt for boiling water

For the Proteins:

  • 1 lb (450 g) large shrimp, peeled and deveined
  • 1 lb (450 g) smoked sausage, sliced into rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 tablespoon butter

For the Sauce:

  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 ½ cups (360 ml) chicken or seafood stock
  • 1 cup (100 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • 2 tablespoons Cajun seasoning (adjust to taste)
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • 1 tablespoon tomato paste (optional, for a richer color)
  • Salt and pepper to taste

For Garnish:

  • Chopped parsley
  • Grated Parmesan (optional)
