Casserole de Saucisse et de Pommes de Terre


Instructions

1. Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a large baking dish with butter or cooking spray.
  3. Cook the sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Set aside.

2. Make the Creamy Sauce

  1. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat.
  2. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes until golden, creating a roux.
  3. Gradually whisk in the milk and cream, ensuring no lumps form.
  4. Add the Dijon mustard, garlic powder, nutmeg, salt, and pepper. Simmer until thickened (about 5 minutes). Remove from heat.

3. Assemble the Casserole

  1. Arrange half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the cooked sausage and onions on top of the potatoes.
  3. Pour half of the creamy sauce over the sausage and potatoes.
  4. Sprinkle with half of the shredded cheese.
  5. Repeat the layers with the remaining potatoes, sausage, sauce, and cheese.

4. Bake the Casserole

  1. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 40 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the top is golden and bubbly.
  3. Let the casserole rest for 10 minutes before serving.
