Cheesy Ground Beef Pie

Instructions:

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). If using a pre-made pie crust, let it sit at room temperature for a few minutes before unrolling.
  2. Prepare the pie crust: Place the pie crust into a pie dish, pressing it gently into the edges. Trim any excess dough, leaving enough to crimp the edges.
  3. Cook the beef mixture:
  • Heat 1 tbsp of olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onions, red bell pepper, and garlic. Sauté for 2-3 minutes until softened.
  • Add the ground beef to the skillet and cook until browned, breaking it up with a spoon. Season with salt, pepper, and paprika (optional).
  • Drain any excess fat.
  1. Prepare the filling:
  • In a bowl, whisk together the eggs and milk (or heavy cream).
  • Stir in half of the cheddar and mozzarella cheese.
  1. Assemble the pie:
  • Spread the cooked ground beef mixture evenly over the pie crust.
  • Pour the egg and cheese mixture over the beef.
  • Sprinkle the remaining cheese on top for that gooey cheesy layer.
  1. Bake: Place the pie in the preheated oven and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and the filling is set.
  2. Garnish: Once baked, remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool slightly. Garnish with fresh thyme leaves if desired.
  3. Serve: Slice and serve warm.

Enjoy this hearty and cheesy pie, which can be served with a fresh side salad or some roasted veggies for a complete meal!
