Ingredients (Serves 6)
For the Casserole:
- 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
- 1 cup (200 g) uncooked long-grain rice
- 2 cups (480 ml) beef broth
- 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
- 1 cup (120 g) shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
- 2 tablespoons olive oil
- 1 small onion, diced
- 2 cups (150 g) sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme
- Salt and pepper, to taste
For Topping:
- ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
- ¼ cup (15 g) breadcrumbs (optional, for a crunchy topping)
- 1 tablespoon melted butter
