Creamy Beef & Mushroom Rice Bake


Ingredients (Serves 6)

For the Casserole:

  • 1 lb (450 g) ground beef
  • 1 cup (200 g) uncooked long-grain rice
  • 2 cups (480 ml) beef broth
  • 1 cup (240 ml) heavy cream
  • 1 cup (120 g) shredded mozzarella or cheddar cheese
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cups (150 g) sliced mushrooms (button or cremini)
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

For Topping:

  • ½ cup (50 g) grated Parmesan cheese
  • ¼ cup (15 g) breadcrumbs (optional, for a crunchy topping)
  • 1 tablespoon melted butter
