Ingredients

  • 3 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 1 1/2 cups water (warm)
  • 1/4 teaspoon instant or active dry yeast
  • 1 1/4 teaspoon salt

Instructions

  1. Mix the Dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, salt, and yeast. Pour in the warm water and stir until a sticky, shaggy dough forms. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap or a clean towel and let it rest at room temperature for 12 to 18 hours.
  2. Preheat the Oven: About 30 minutes before you’re ready to bake, preheat your oven to 450°F (230°C). Place a large Dutch oven or oven-safe pot with a lid inside the oven to heat up.
  3. Shape the Dough: Lightly flour a clean surface and turn out the dough. Using floured hands, gently shape the dough into a ball. Place it on a piece of parchment paper.
  4. Bake: Carefully remove the preheated Dutch oven from the oven. Lift the parchment paper with the dough and place it inside the pot. Cover with the lid and bake for 30 minutes. After 30 minutes, remove the lid and bake for another 10-15 minutes, until the crust is golden brown.
