Instructions:
- Prepare the fish: In a food processor, add the fish fillets and pulse until it’s finely minced. You can also use a knife to chop it finely if you don’t have a food processor.
- Combine ingredients: In a mixing bowl, combine the minced fish, onion, garlic, parsley or cilantro, egg, breadcrumbs, salt, pepper, and paprika or cayenne pepper (if using). Mix everything together until well combined.
- Shape into balls: Take about a tablespoon of the mixture and shape it into a ball. Repeat with the remaining mixture. You should get about 18-20 fish balls, depending on the size.
- Heat the oil: Heat about 1/2 inch of vegetable oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
- Fry the fish balls: Once the oil is hot, gently add the fish balls in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry each batch for about 4-5 minutes, turning them occasionally, until they are golden brown and cooked through.
- Drain and serve: Remove the fish balls from the oil and drain on a paper towel-lined plate. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce like tartar sauce, sweet chili sauce, or garlic aioli.
