Loaded Breakfast Casserole Recipe


Instructions

Step 1: Prepare the Ingredients

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13-inch baking dish.
  2. Cook the breakfast sausage in a skillet over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess grease and set aside.
  3. In the same skillet, cook the bacon until crispy. Crumble into small pieces.
  4. Thaw the hash browns if they are frozen, and pat them dry to remove excess moisture.

Step 2: Assemble the Casserole

  1. Spread the hash browns evenly in the bottom of the prepared baking dish.
  2. Sprinkle the cooked sausage, crumbled bacon, green onions, and bell peppers (if using) over the hash browns.
  3. In a mixing bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper until well combined.

Step 3: Add the Cheese

  1. Sprinkle the shredded cheddar and mozzarella cheese over the sausage and bacon layer.
  2. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the top. Use a spatula to gently press the ingredients down so the liquid soaks in.

Step 4: Bake

  1. Cover the baking dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes.
  2. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 20-25 minutes, or until the casserole is set in the center and lightly golden on top.

Step 5: Serve

Allow the casserole to cool for about 5 minutes before slicing into squares. Serve hot with optional toppings like sour cream, hot sauce, or salsa.
