Ingredients (Serves 6–8)
For the Meatballs:
- 1 lb (500 g) ground beef or a mix of beef and pork
- ½ cup (50 g) breadcrumbs
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons milk
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon paprika
- Salt and pepper, to taste
- 2 tablespoons fresh parsley, chopped
For the Potatoes and Sauce:
- 2 lbs (1 kg) potatoes, peeled and sliced into thin rounds
- 2 tablespoons olive oil or butter
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 2 cups (500 ml) heavy cream or milk (for a lighter version)
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme or rosemary (optional)
- 1 cup (100 g) shredded cheese (cheddar, mozzarella, or a mix)
- Salt and pepper, to taste
