Monterey Sausage Pie

Step-by-Step Instructions

  1. Prepare the crust: If using a homemade crust, roll it out and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish. Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes at 375°F (190°C) to prevent sogginess.
  2. Cook the sausage: In a skillet, cook the sausage over medium heat until browned and fully cooked. Drain excess grease.
  3. Sauté the vegetables: In the same skillet, sauté the onions and bell peppers until softened, about 5 minutes.
  4. Mix the filling: In a large bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and seasonings. Stir in the cooked sausage, sautéed vegetables, and shredded cheese.
  5. Assemble the pie: Pour the filling into the pre-baked crust. Spread it evenly and top with additional cheese if desired.
  6. Bake: Place the pie in the oven and bake at 375°F (190°C) for 30–40 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is golden brown.
  7. Cool and serve: Let the pie rest for 10 minutes before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
