Pasta with Ground Beef

Instructions:

1. Cook the pasta:

  • In a large pot of salted boiling water, cook the pasta according to the package directions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

2. Brown the ground beef:

  • While the pasta is cooking, heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat.
  • Add the diced onion and cook for about 2-3 minutes, until softened. Add the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1 minute until fragrant.
  • Add the ground beef, breaking it up with a spoon, and cook until browned and fully cooked through, about 6-8 minutes. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

3. Add tomatoes and seasoning:

  • Once the beef is browned, stir in the diced tomatoes, tomato paste, and beef broth or water.
  • Add the oregano, basil, crushed red pepper flakes (if using), and a pinch of salt and pepper. Stir everything together and let it simmer for about 10-15 minutes to allow the flavors to meld.

4. Combine the pasta and sauce:

  • Once the sauce has thickened, add the cooked pasta to the skillet with the ground beef mixture. Toss everything together until the pasta is well coated in the sauce.

5. Serve:

  • Remove from heat and serve immediately, topped with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh parsley or basil, if desired.

Optional Add-ins:

  • Vegetables: You can add vegetables like bell peppers, spinach, or mushrooms to make the dish even heartier.
  • Cheese: Stir in some shredded mozzarella or provolone for an extra cheesy dish.
  • Spices: If you like your dish with a kick, add more red pepper flakes or some chili powder.
