Step 3: Assemble the Casserole
- In a mixing bowl, combine the softened cream cheese with half of the shredded provolone cheese. Mix well to create a creamy, cheesy layer.
- Spread the cooked beef in an even layer in the bottom of your prepared casserole dish.
- Layer the sautéed vegetables over the beef.
- Spread the cream cheese and provolone mixture over the vegetables, smoothing it out with a spatula.
Step 4: Add the Cheese Topping
- Sprinkle the remaining shredded provolone (and cheddar if using) on top of the cream cheese layer for that gooey, cheesy finish.
Step 5: Bake the Casserole
- Place the casserole in the preheated oven and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly, and the top is golden brown.
- If you like a crispier top, you can turn on the broiler for the last 2-3 minutes, but watch carefully to prevent burning.
Step 6: Garnish and Serve
- Remove the casserole from the oven and let it sit for a few minutes to set.
- Garnish with chopped fresh parsley, if desired, for a touch of color.
- Serve hot, spooning it onto plates or bowls for a comforting, delicious meal
