Potato and Meat Casserole

Instructions:

  1. Prepare the Mashed Potatoes:
  • Boil the potatoes in salted water until tender. Drain and mash them with milk, butter, salt, and pepper until smooth. Set aside.
  1. Cook the Meat Filling:
  • In a skillet, cook the ground meat over medium heat until browned. Drain any excess fat.
  • Add the onion and garlic, cooking until softened.
  • Stir in the tomato sauce, thyme, and oregano. Season with salt and pepper. Let simmer for about 5-10 minutes, until the flavors are well combined.
  1. Assemble the Casserole:
  • In a greased baking dish, layer half of the mashed potatoes, spreading it evenly.
  • Add the meat mixture as the next layer, spreading it evenly over the potatoes.
  • Top with the remaining mashed potatoes, then sprinkle shredded cheese over the top.
  1. Bake:
  • Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  • Bake the casserole for 20-25 minutes or until the cheese is melted and golden.
