Shepherd’s Pie: A Comforting Classic


Ingredients

For the Meat Filling

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • 1 medium onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 500g (1 lb) ground lamb (or beef, for Cottage Pie)
  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 cup beef or chicken stock
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1 teaspoon dried rosemary
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
