Slow Cooker Steak and Cheddar Potato Casserole

How to Make It

1. Prepare the Steak

  • Season the steak pieces with garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, salt, and black pepper.
  • In a skillet over medium-high heat, sear the steak for 2-3 minutes per side until browned. This step is optional but adds extra flavor.

2. Assemble the Casserole in the Slow Cooker

  • Lightly grease the inside of your slow cooker.
  • Layer half of the sliced potatoes at the bottom of the slow cooker.
  • Sprinkle 1 cup of cheddar cheese over the potatoes.
  • Add the steak on top of the cheese layer.
  • Top with the remaining potatoes.

3. Add the Liquid

  • In a bowl, mix heavy cream, beef broth, and Worcestershire sauce. Pour the mixture evenly over the layers in the slow cooker.

4. Cook

  • Cover and cook on low for 6-7 hours or high for 3-4 hours, until the potatoes are tender.

5. Finish with Cheese

  • In the last 30 minutes of cooking, sprinkle the remaining cheddar cheese on top. Cover and let it melt.
