Instructions:
- Prepare the Dough: In a bowl, beat the shortening until fluffy. In a separate bowl, mix masa harina, baking powder, and salt. Gradually add the chicken broth to the masa mixture, then mix in the shortening until dough is soft.
- Prepare the Filling: Mix shredded chicken with salsa verde, adding salt and pepper as desired.
- Assemble the Tamales: Spread 2 tablespoons of masa dough onto the center of each soaked corn husk. Add a spoonful of the chicken filling. Fold the sides of the husk over the filling, then fold the bottom of the husk up.
- Steam the Tamales: Place tamales in a steamer and steam for about 1-1.5 hours, until the masa is firm and pulls away from the husk easily.
