The Cake That Became a Family Favorite


Ingredients for the Cake:

  • 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 tsp baking powder
  • 1/2 tsp baking soda
  • 1/4 tsp salt
  • 3/4 cup (150g) granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) melted butter or vegetable oil
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 cup (240ml) buttermilk (or milk with 1 tbsp lemon juice/vinegar)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

For the Gooey Topping:

  • 1/2 cup (120ml) sweetened condensed milk
  • 1/2 cup (120ml) heavy cream
  • 1/3 cup (80g) brown sugar
  • 1/2 cup (100g) chopped nuts or coconut (optional)
