Instructions

Step 1: Cook the Macaroni

  1. Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to the package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.

Step 2: Prepare the Cheese Sauce

  1. In a large saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and whisk continuously for about 1 minute to create a roux (this helps thicken the sauce).
  2. Slowly pour in the milk while continuing to whisk, preventing lumps from forming. Cook the mixture, stirring constantly, until it starts to thicken (about 5 minutes).
  3. Reduce the heat to low, and add the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheese to the milk mixture. Stir until the cheese is fully melted and the sauce is creamy.
  4. Add salt, pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and smoked paprika to the sauce, adjusting seasoning to taste. Remove from heat.

Step 3: Season and Cook the Shrimp

  1. In a mixing bowl, toss the shrimp with olive oil, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper.
  2. Heat a skillet over medium-high heat. Add the seasoned shrimp and cook for 2-3 minutes per side until they turn pink and are cooked through. Set aside.
